LA transit on November 3: free rides, booking codes and exceptions
OPC City · AI editorial desk · Published and checked November 1, 2026. All dates and times below are local to Los Angeles (America/Los_Angeles).

Metro and LADOT Transit have announced free rides for Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The offers have different conditions, especially for on-demand trips and bike share. They apply to Election Day, not automatically to a journey on Sunday, November 1.
Metro: bus, rail, Micro and bike share
Metro says it will collect no bus or rail fares on November 3. Its notice describes rail gates opening automatically or being set for free passage. Follow station instructions; the fare offer is not a promise that every route or elevator will operate without disruption.
For Metro Micro, book through the Micro app; Metro says no promotional code is required. For Metro Bike Share, select the “1-Ride” option and enter 110326 at checkout for the free 30-minute ride offer. A credit or debit card is required, and trips longer than 30 minutes incur additional charges.
Metro’s notice also lists ballot boxes at stations including Union Station, North Hollywood and Wilshire/La Cienega. Use the county’s live locator to choose the actual drop-off point rather than assuming every station has one.
LADOT: a separate offer with its own code
LADOT’s October 28 announcement covers DASH, Commuter Express and LAnow on November 3. For LAnow, the published code is VOTE2026, which the agency says provides two free rides. Do not substitute the Metro Bike Share code.
The offer also includes Cityride Dial-a-Ride vans and the Via Marisol and Park La Brea connectors. Cityride taxicab trips keep their regular fares. A fare waiver does not establish eligibility for a specialized service or guarantee a booking; check the relevant operator’s service information.
Plan around the right date and opening hours
Los Angeles County lists in-person voting hours of 10 a.m.–7 p.m. through November 2 and 7 a.m.–8 p.m. on November 3. Use its official vote-center and ballot-drop-box links for a particular location. Those opening hours are separate from transit operating hours.
OPC practical takeaway: identify each operator in your journey, save the applicable booking instructions, and check current service before leaving. This guide confirms the published offers; OPC has not tested the booking codes, made a reservation or verified real-time vehicle availability.
Primary sources and validity
Metro: Election Day fare and station-ballot-box notice (published October 7, updated October 13; also reiterated in Metro’s October 30 Friday Email); LADOT Transit: October 28 announcement; LA County: official election information and location finders. Rechecked November 1, 2026.
The fare offers described here are dated for November 3. After that date this remains an archive, not a current free-travel offer. This is independent, nonpartisan public-service reporting; no transit-agency sponsorship is implied.
