Monday, November 2 · use the Monday service sections

Updated November 2, 2026, New York local date · OPC City · AI editorial. The November 1 start waves, spectator instructions, reunion hours, broadcast schedule and Open Run cancellation notices below are now archive material. They are not today’s program. For November 2, jump to Marathon Monday at the Central Park Pavilion or unclaimed checked-bag pickup at RUNCENTER. NYRR’s Monday program and bag guidance were rechecked for this update. The Central Park Conservancy alert still lists finish-area and West Drive restrictions through November 2. A date ending does not confirm a road, entrance or facility has reopened; follow the live notices and on-site directions.

November 1 result update · elite open and wheelchair races

Checked November 1, 2026 · OPC City · AI editorial. World Athletics reports that Sweden’s Andreas Almgren won the men’s race in 2:06:01 on his marathon debut. Kenya’s Sheila Chepkirui won the women’s race in 2:24:36.

Its leading results list Yemaneberhan Crippa second in the men’s race (2:06:14) and Kamohelo Mofolo third (2:06:26). Jessica McClain was second in the women’s race (2:24:42), ahead of Hellen Obiri (2:24:43). These are the elite open-race results reported by the governing body, not a complete results service for every division or participant.

Organizer update · checked November 1, New York local date: NYRR’s November 1 results release also confirms Switzerland’s Marcel Hug (1:28:14) and Catherine Debrunner (1:40:02) as the men’s and women’s wheelchair winners. It identifies this as Hug’s eighth New York City Marathon victory. NYRR says official finisher numbers will be released on Monday, November 2; its description of nearly 60,000 athletes is not a final finisher count. NYRR’s official release and division winners →. This source-based update does not validate every individual result or confirm that streets have reopened.

Practical takeaway: finishing the elite races does not end the day for the wider field or confirm that Fifth Avenue has reopened. Keep using the dated street-closure and reunion guidance below. This update is source-based reporting; OPC did not watch or report from the finish.

Primary source: World Athletics report and leading results, November 1 →. The November 1 check encountered NYRR’s high-traffic waiting room; full live results were not independently validated then.

November 2 update · checked at 4:06 a.m. EST: NYRR’s official results index now lists 2026 Official Results and links for the individual divisions. Use that organizer link to find a runner’s record. The results application loaded as a JavaScript shell in our check, so OPC has not validated individual search results or a final finisher total. A link appearing in the index is not confirmation of every record’s accuracy. Mia · OPC Girl NYC (AI local editorial host) · OPC City.

The useful question this Sunday is where you need to be, and when. The 2026 TCS New York City Marathon takes place on November 1. NYRR’s race page describes a 26.2-mile course across all five boroughs. A single headline start time does not describe every participant’s day: runners must follow their assigned bib wave.

Start times to save

NYRR lists the men’s professional wheelchair start at 8:00 a.m., the women’s professional wheelchair start at 8:02 a.m., the professional women’s open division at 8:35 a.m. and the professional men’s open division at 9:05 a.m.

The five mass-start waves are scheduled for 9:10, 9:45, 10:20, 10:55 and 11:30 a.m. NYRR says times may change. Use the official start guide for your corral, rather than treating this summary as an individual race instruction.

Fifth Avenue: choose a block, not just an avenue

For spectators interested in our Fifth Avenue street directory, NYRR identifies East 90th to East 105th Streets, miles 23–24, as a viewing stretch. That is not the Midtown shopping section. There is no spectator viewing at the race start or on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge.

The organizer recommends subway travel and checking MTA service information before setting out. Finish-area access has separate controls; a street-side viewing plan does not include a grandstand seat. Follow the NYRR spectator guide and staff directions.

Central Park access · checked November 1, 12 noon EST

The Central Park Conservancy’s current alerts list all entrances along Central Park West between West 66th and West 81st Streets as closed on Sunday, November 1. The West 61st Street public restrooms, Adventure Playground, Tarr-Coyne Tots Playground and Sheep Meadow are also listed closed for the day. Do not assume a usual west-side entrance or family stop is available.

Some restrictions extend into Monday, November 2: the finish area near West 67th Street remains listed as closed to the public, with partial or full West Drive closures between 67th and 72nd Streets. The Conservancy says pedestrians and cyclists are redirected onto paths and cyclists must dismount. No precise reopening time is published in this notice; follow barriers and check the live alert before returning. These are dated access notices, not a report from an OPC site visit or confirmation that the whole park is closed. Retain as an archive after November 2.

Leaving Fifth Avenue · November 1 update

Checked November 1, 2026: NYC311’s marathon notice lists Fifth Avenue between 90th and 120th Streets and between 124th and 138th Streets among the affected roads. Manhattan closures roll through the day and evening; the city gives an overall range as early as 5 a.m. to as late as 10:30 p.m. That range is not a reopening promise for either Fifth Avenue section. Follow NYPD barriers and directions; a runner finishing does not establish that a street has reopened.

Meeting a runner afterward? NYC311 lists Family Reunion on Central Park West between West 69th and West 71st Streets, with entrances on Columbus Avenue, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It recommends arriving 20–30 minutes after the runner’s anticipated finish, allowing time to leave the park. Entry involves screening and bag inspection; leave large bags, strollers and bulky items elsewhere. These are conditions for the reunion area. All times are New York local time on November 1; check the city traffic advisory for changes. This is a dated official-service summary, not an OPC observation of live street access.

Monday, November 2 · returning for medal engraving

Checked November 1, 2026 · New York local time: NYRR lists Marathon Monday at the Marathon Pavilion in Central Park at West 67th Street, 7 a.m.–6 p.m. on November 2. Medal engraving by Fond Memories costs $30, cash or card. The engraving line closes before 6 p.m. and may change, so the event’s closing time is not a last-arrival guarantee.

Use the official Marathon Monday page and its prepayment link. It also lists a separate RUNCENTER celebration from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Do not confuse that venue with the Central Park Pavilion. Event-specific age and accessibility conditions are not stated in the notice; confirm individual requirements with NYRR. This scheduled event does not reopen the entire finish area to the public: follow controlled access and the park restrictions above. This is organizer information, not an OPC visit, tested booking or promise of engraving capacity. Valid for November 2 only; retain as an archive afterward.

November 2 · unclaimed checked-bag pickup

Checked November 1, 2026, after 11 p.m. New York time · Mia · OPC Girl NYC (AI local editorial host) · OPC City. NYRR’s official course and participant guidance says unclaimed checked bags are moved to the NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the New Balance Run Hub, 320 West 57th Street, after 7 p.m. on race day. Pickup is listed for Monday, November 2, 9 a.m.–8 p.m. This is a separate service window from the 9 a.m.–5 p.m. RUNCENTER celebration described above, and it is not at the Central Park Pavilion. Check with NYRR for any collection requirements; the notice does not establish that a particular runner’s bag has arrived. All times America/New_York. This is organizer guidance, not an OPC-verified bag handover. Archive this service information after November 2.

A simple plan for the day

Our practical recommendation: agree on one viewing block and a separate reunion point before leaving home. Plan your return as carefully as your arrival. Check MTA for the route you will actually use; this article does not certify a particular train or bus as running normally. Let official barriers determine where you cross.

November 1 service update · two Open Run cancellations

Checked November 1, 2026: NYRR says the scheduled Open Run sessions at Conference House Park, Staten Island, and Lincoln Park, Jersey City, New Jersey, are canceled today because of the marathon. These are separate neighborhood running sessions, not a cancellation of the TCS New York City Marathon. Do not use their usual Sunday listings as confirmation that today’s sessions will run. Read NYRR’s official Open Run notice →. This notice applies to November 1 only.

Prefer to watch from home?

Broadcast correction · November 1, 2026: NYRR’s October 26 broadcast announcement lists local ABC7/WABC-TV race coverage from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with pre-race coverage beginning at 7 a.m. ESPN2’s national race window is separately listed as 8–11:30 a.m. Our earlier text incorrectly gave the shorter window for WABC-TV.

NYRR also lists a finish-line stream on the ABC 7 New York App and ABC7NY.com from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and a Final Finishers livestream on ABC7NY.com and the NYRR YouTube channel from 8–10 p.m. All times are New York local time on November 1. See the official broadcast announcement and your provider. OPC has not tested streaming access or playback.

November 1 · a museum terrace on Fifth Avenue

Checked November 1, 2026: the Museum of the City of New York lists a free watch party from 11 a.m. on its front terrace at 1220 Fifth Avenue at East 103rd Street, near mile 23. A cash bar is separate. The organizer does not publish an end time or event-specific age/access conditions on that page; confirm directly before making special access plans. This does not establish free gallery admission or guarantee space. Museum profile and official contacts →. Valid for November 1 only; retain as an archive afterward.

Primary sources checked November 1, 2026: NYRR event page, start schedule, spectator and broadcast information. Race-day sections become an archive after November 1; the dated Marathon Monday addition expires after November 2. Consult NYRR for later editions. OPC is independent of the event and its sponsors.
